Mokume gane means wood-grain metal in Japanese. This technique of thin layers of fused metal has been used to make parts of the handles of Samurai swords.

These earrings have mokume gane of copper and Sterling silver appliqued (permanently soldered) to a thicker Sterling back.

They are not perfectly symmetrical as you can see by looking at the picture. They are the result of hand working.

These are truly beautiful one-of-a-kind items. They are quite stunning in person.
